MYTHOS HAIKU
by
David C. Kopaska-Merkel
R'lyeh emerges,
Dead Cthulhu shambles again,
Godzilla is toast
Old loves never die,
But few desire to be wooed
From beyond the grave
He sought a round room,
Fleeing the Tindalos Hounds:
Foiled by an earthquake
Ghouls dig beneath graves
Sent on dreamquest by the dholes
For a midnight snack
Churchyard at midnight
Unquiet gravestones topple
Liches born again
Upon the stone altar
Ancient ones are called once more
Virgins die writhing
Blown into strange seas
(Ghost crabs crawl on curdled weed)
The lost ship founders
