THE GATE IN THE MEWS
by
Meade Frierson III
Once in a mews in Innsmouth town
I spied old Esau Marsh and down
A stairway thought I saw him go --
Not so!
For when I went where he had been,
I saw a sight to unnerve men
Who think great Euclid no fool --
A pool!
A patch of lights no eye should see
Pulsating not a yard from me
Which shrank, winked out and left the stone
Alone!
There are dimensions more than three;
To enter them one needs a key
And what old Esau found of late --
A gate!
